There's no mystery here. When you pay about the same as Uber, the opportunity cost to invest in the training vs following a more lucrative career path, your chances of a robust pool of future employees is doubtful. I left the regional airlines simply because I could not afford the low wages. It's a plausible career path but only if you start before your mid 30s, in my opinion.

However, I believe you are only doomed after you reach your mid 40s, not your mid 30s.

The pay still really is'nt high enough. 50,000 a year ,yes they pay a bonus. Your only paid from when the door closes then when the door opens at the destination. most have 75 hour per month minimum. you are going to live in hotels during your shift. the flow through to the majors id 6 to 7 years then your pay is 120,000. Until the next slowdown or corona viris whatever. Is it worth it?

dollars. over the course of a career, you will probably make 2-3 times what you will make as a helicopter pilot. of course it's worth it. you could get furloughed for 5 years and still make way more and have a better job
