pretty reliable, fun to fly. Hard to keep in trim. Autopilot is not great. Lots of power. Looks sexy as eff and fast. Anybody that tells you otherwise has never flown it.

anybody that says it's not as reliable as anything else has no experience in it or more than likely, no aviation experience. very little unscheduled mx

Yes to all of the abouve, especially "cramped."  I'm 5'10" and it's the only helicopter I've flown where I was still felling "cramped" in, even with the seat all the way back and the pedals extended all the way!  Also, as was mentioned by someone, the autopilot tended to kick off unexpectedly.  Ours was anolog so maybe the digital ones are better.

Is it still using that antiquated, maintenance intensive, tail rotor Or have they joined the rest of the world with elasto bearings?

all the hatches and latches secure, know the hydraulic system and squat switch interaction especially with marginal pressure before liftoff, keep the swash plate well lubricated (drastically reduces the four per rev), and at a minimum keep the tail rotor balanced within 25 hours or sooner.   Fail the last one and you definitely risk losing the tail rotor - you've been warned.

Over 2,000 hours in it, lots of fun.

Any tail rotor that requires balance check that often has some bad design issues.

Turn the pedals around and they say Bell on the backside of them...

The 407 and the 109 are some of the only aircraft that will still lift vertically when at max GW.   The 109E will do it on one engine so pay attention to the switches.

The 109 autopilot will violently kick off and roll you if you get below 48kts or so so if you are shooting an ILS, make sure your are engaged in the approach mode and not in altitude hold.

You can absolutely not OEI OGE climb a 109E at MGW. at 142% total tq youre sitting at 71% per engine AEO. you will not climb that at 3000KG in the winter at sea level.
