I am 74 and hung up my wings 6 years ago! Suddenly I am getting emails offering me flying jobs at up to $1500 a day! WTH? Are they hurting for copter pilots that bad! My first aviation job was flying offshore for $1,600 a month! Damn my parents for birthing me too early! |

I belive it if they are offering him to come in as an independant contracor. Look at what it costs to employ a typical pilot for fire contract or similar job.
$600/day payroll $125/day payroll tax $40/day other taxes $40/day health insurance $20/day 401k 3% match $5/day tech (phone/ipad) $5/day PPE, etc $5/day fringe benefits, coffee water, etc $50/ day rental car $75/ day food allowance $200/day hotel Training costs?
