really sick or dead.  The jabs work to vastly reduce the damage of infection and ongoing consequences.  One should fear the disease far more than that which creates resistance.  Not getting vaccinated is soo dumb on all ethical levels.  Selfish decision!

Right on! These 135 companies are Cheap and pay like it. Below average benefits. Then there's the managment "teams", Chief pilots, Regional Area Managers of this and that and too many other people who don't fly or turn wrenches telling all the pilots and mechanics what to do and how it is. Most of them are not capable and most of them are not needed. These same brilliant people are also the first in line to fire pilots and mechanics. It starts with the cheap companies and finishes with all the chiefs.

Yeah, HEMS ain't perfect. But, really, REALLY no worse than most jobs. In other jobs you are required to fly to contract conditions that you'vr never seen in print. The customer lead just spouts shyte he claims I'm contractually bound to do and sometime I do and sometimes I don't. In HEMS the mechanic and I are the last word on the aircraft. Eithr, both down it it's down. If say I'm not flying x, y, or z conditions per the book, I don't fly it. Complaints? Yep, but my decision is supported by the regs. Don't socialise with the passengers andmedical types are passengers, in spite of their delusions. They are NEVER cited as other than contributing factors in the accident report.

now because there may be better things for pilots to do.  Pilots coming out of the services head for big operators like HAA ones probably out of habit thinking bigger is better.  Definitely not true.  Now retired at 75 but my best jobs were overseas and corporate here in the states.  Some corporate jobs pay extremely well and are very civilized.  Working overseas was a hoot but I suspect not nearly so these days - we're talking 40+ years past.

Point is take time to travel the industry on foot, so to speak, visit as many helicopter operations as possible - it'll be the best education prior to choosing your direction.

If you're thin skinned and still want to do HAA, especially due to the schedule, learn how to be patient in all endeavors and realize medical people are no brighter than any others though they love the exercise of busy-body and back stabbing.  Most are bachelor degrees or less and not very travelled or socialized outside their tiny circles.  I always kind of pitied them as HAA was my retirement job.  For a mature pilot the very conservative HAA standards happen to keep things fairly workable.

As to HAA management it all varies.  Best to be polite and helpful while avoiding confrontation unless necessary.

Above all play nicely with all.  Makes for a long career.
