Still more questions than answers.  Wildly out of balance blades would have been noticed at startup.  "Side to side vibrations after landing" sounds more like ground resonance or dynamic rollover.  That could come from a variety of factors (maintenance issue, mechanical failure, botched landing...).  Can't tell from info that's been released so far.  Sad news.

A few more details in this article: https://www.military.com/daily-news/2021/09/07/navy-helicopter-rotor-struck-carrier-deck-causing-crash-killed-five.html

A helicopter "vibrating".  That's new.

When I flew old a@@ H60's off an aircraft carrier, my buddy came in after a brief night flight, and he was white as a ghost.

Apparently, when the "chocks and chains" gang removed the gear, they left an extra tiedown chain attached to the helicopter and the deck ~ he said the helicopter almost rolled over the edge on liftoff.

Ever since then, when I flew on ship decks, I would lift very gingerly, if I could (sea state, pitch and roll, etc, permitting).

"I would lift very gingerly" ALWAYS a good idea unless somebody's shooting at you.

There are things that can fail in flight that coould cause, ahem- "dynamic divergent excitation" as Eurocopter preferred to call it. I guess it's not a bug but a feature that Eurocopters can shake themselves to bits before ground resonance.

I had 3 transmission support rod end bearings pull loose in 2 separate events. Fortunately, the structure was designed to contain the failed bearings. "Clank" and the nose dropped an inch or so....
