Do any of you think that maybe some of the Afgan Military may have been Manchurian Canidate types that went through our training and operations and will soon be flying around in our Blawkhawks and Apaches's we left behind.

Conventional wisdom says no, I say yes.  Iran is still flying helicopters it took from Bell when the Shaw left Iran in the 1970's.  Most of you are not even old enough to remember that.  The old adage "those that don't learn from history" holds true.

Several of them were just training at MD a few months ago. Not the 60s obviously but the 530s. Many of the machines were brand new..

says of course that would happen but I don't think the army was in the business of training them. Did we leave some behind

and spares and weapons and trained a few thousand Afghan pilots to fly them, I don't know how it would make one damned bit of difference as far as anything. The Taliban could fly them across the Atlantic and attack us I guess.

What's the odds there is anyone left that are able to fly them if they were assasinating pilots earlier.  Maybe force them with taking family hostage but likely to sit or crash from others trying to figure it out...

Evidently some are not aware of the meaning of a Manchurin Canidate.   What the heck, a few billion dollars here a few billion dollars there, pretty soon your talking real money !!!  But at  Helicopter pilots salary thats chump change right.  Pretty soon you will be buying helicopter parts for you Hughs 500 with brand new sparkling yellow tags.  Just like the ones we bought from Viet Nam for the Huey.  I guess you younger generation people are like puppies," your eyes don't open till you get a little older."

to remember Vietnam and I'm a VHPA member.

That doesn't change the fact that there were/are no Blackhawks or Apaches "left behind".

They did capture at least a few Blackhawks.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/taliban-show-off-us-made-afghan-army-helicopters-captured-at-kandahar-airport/

They were never given Apaches - just up-armed MD530F's.  They couldn't have gotten those out of the country I don't think.  Can't fly high enough to get over some of the mountain passes and they don't have FARPs to have range to make it out of country I would imagine.

The phrase "plenty of helicopters" conjures an image of a vast collection or a significant number of helicopters,

perhaps at an airshow, military base, or in a fleet for commercial or emergency use.

This abundance indicates a strong capability for aerial mobility, rapid response, and versatile application in various scenarios.

Yup, I used to work with two old timer aviators who were part of a US sent military team to train their helicopter special forces unit in the 70's.

I had no idea we had any active training involvement in Iran... thought it was just arms sales, but apparently we did more than that back then.  I believe they still have the OH-6's, UH-1's, and AH-1's we sold them back in the day.

There are some Apaches still being used by the US Army at Kabul.I suspect they will be left on the ramp and not flown out.Biden and the CIA cut some kind a deal with the Taliban a few days ago.You will see the Taliban posing for pictures on them September 1.
