Well, what’s with a few brand new Cal Fire Sikorsky machines in Denver for retrofit? Word in the Fire world is they didn’t perform as advertised last fire season in California.
At 25million per factory new I would expect some demonstrated performance BEFORE they ever left Connecticut .

They bought them for the median altitude  plus some, they should have selected a higher altitude for their contract specifications.  Fire people add lots of nice to have extra equipment that adds weight.

The supposed "Huey of our modern day".... but it's not.

Maybe it is for the USCG, but not for everyone else.  VERY expensive, gas guzzling machine with only average performance for how big and expensive it is.

Don't get me wrong, impressive machine that makes the challenge of flying VERY easy for a pilot... so much so to make it boring, in fact.  Technical wonder, ableit overly engineered and uneccessarily complicated master caution panel (on the L model); especially when compared to a 47.

But a cheap, simple airframe you can use/fly like a "pickup truck" like the Huey?  That it is NOT.

Also, if not used in combat, should never have more than one crewchief (and if you have a crewchief then only need one pilot).
