Looking to buy my own helmet because I hate my company-issued HGU-56.  The only other helmet I've used is the Alpha and I liked it, so it's at the top of my list.  Don't need anr or cep.  Do need dual visor and NVG mount. Looks like they're a little less than $2000 from Gibson and Barnes or Proflightgear.

Any other options with similar price/spec I should be looking at?  Or a better source to get an Alpha?

I think it will help with stopping the spread of these crazy questions...

I know it's a big departure from the usual CBA and covid threads, but what's so crazy about a flight helmet question?

Worn the Alpha, Gentex, and Gallet 250 for years each, and besides comfort which is so subjective to the individual user that it's not really a discussion point, I can point to one advantage of the Gallet over the others for NVG users:

If you go with the option of the clear inner visor on the Gallet, you can have it lowered, and still have the goggles down at the same time.  Seen to many bird strikes to ever feel comfortable flying around at night without a clear visor, especially with two metal tubes placed right in front of my orbital socket.

Yup, I started pushing out my NVGs so I can put my clear visor down to help in bird strike situation (probably won't work, but worth a shot; EMS night landings are done so slowly there is no less safety in having NVGs close or far to your eyeballs):

AMC night bird strike crash (geese incapacitated pilot):

USAF HH-60 PaveHawk night bird strike (geese incapacitated both pilots):

S-76 day strike (hawk came through windshield and hit engine fire/power levers):

AH-1 Cobra day strike (hawk hit pitch change link and snapped it):

There are plenty more, but those are from a quick google search.

By all means, catastrophic bird strikes are rare, but they do happen (and DO happen at night nowadays with messed up migratory bird patterns compared to 20 years ago when only owls and bats flew at night!).
