I was a Marine student pilot in Pensacola in 1968. The commanding officer of the Marine training unit was Colonel Don Conroy, the Great Santini. He was a big guy who flew F-8 Crusaders. |

their were no operational F-8's or enough stock footage of F-8's when they made the movie. The movie business before CGI! |
