Careful when flying Astars.  People in front seats with long, camera straps may snag and Fuel Control lever give you an unplanned landing..

I flew Astars in Hawaii for 8 years. I was always concerned about passengers up front getting things caught on the FFC and or fuel shut off. Luckily never happened to me but many times habe had passenger up front grab the collective thinking it was some kind of safety bar. That was even after the safety briefing telling pax up front

to not touch anything near controls.

I always wanted to fly thru that cave on Molokai, maybe on my last day. Is the crash pilot still flying in Hawaii?

Dumb Question.....They sold Thousands. If Owner/Operator/Clients did not like them, they would not beso popular. In most cases, the Pilot (Driver) does not choose the Helicopter selected for the mission. Very easy for Drivers.....If you do not want to fly it, choose anther job.

It's happened at least three times. It's a design problem that airbus fixed with the twistgrip throttle on the B3s when they went away from the floor mounted fuel control levers. Every responsible operator has either upgraded aircraft or installed guards around there for FFCL. If yours has not you should be asking them why.

The twist grip was an option on the B2s but an expensive one.  Start switch is a slider style a la an EC120. I flew one for a couple hundred hours but not many out there.
