That bird is currently flying with AMC. Started out as an A3 or 4. It might be over in Corydon. That's gotta have a serial number below 7200.

I was reunited with sn 7002 in Edmonton last year. Flew her back in the mid 80's. Beautiful condition with 15K hours. Soon to be add to, or be replaced by H145D3's

s/n 7226, the b2 went to mid 7250s, I believe.  Oldest one I flew was 7003.   C1 s/n were in 7500s

BK's began with SN 7001.  N333LF is SN 7226.  Air Methods still owns SN 7036 (N485UH)...which *may* be the oldest 117 flying in the U.S.   If 7036 isn't the oldest, then it's SN 7038 (N112LL) owned by Patriot Aviation (which may just be a holding company out of Delaware).

There are some older SN's than 7036 still on the U.S. registry, but they appear to be owned by parts/salvage companies or are no longer flyable.

If you're really bored some day, browse through the ROTORSPOT website.  All kinds of great information in it!

First BK117 in North America was s/n 7002....i helped unload it off the flatbed at MBB in PA back in 1982.  Several more s/n BK's arrived over next few months...but could not be sold because the BK was still not Type Certified by FAA until a yr later.   Eventually 7002 was sold to Evergreen...who leased it back to MHC to use as a demonstrator.   US Jet took delivery of 7003...first EMS BK in US.   S/n if 7002 is still operating in Canada...it is undoubtely the oldest BK flying in NA, and possibly worldwide.   Oldest flying BK in US....is s/n 7012, which is still operated by DOE in S.C.   US Jet and Omniflight got most of the early (A-1) BK's....RMH a few yrs later.  s/n 7036 i believe was a RMH ship originally delivered to Detroit Med Ctr.

Why is it that this data tag is held on by 4 rivets , not 2 cap screws and 2 rivets?
