So what is all the hocus pocus about a post flight? Do you look inside your coffee cup after you drank it? It is better not to know what was in the bottom of the cup. If it was good coffee it was good coffee.

It flew in....

Once upon a time, you couldn't tell if a poster was trolling or not. Work on it, son.

It flew in, but when you went to set it down, you whiplashed the med crew. No need to see if you spread the skids, or bent something in the driveline. The rotors are probably okay too.

Found the medcrew. That rough set down isn't going to bend a driveline. And you don't look at drivelines on a post flight walkaround anyhow.

My ex-boss would have kicked my a** from here to next Tuesday if we were scheduled for a trip and on preflight I "just discovered" a grounding discrepancy that could've (and should've!) been caught on post-flight.  They pay us for more than just moving the little sticks around.

Exactly that way in other types of helicopter operations.  Why some in HAA May hav3a problem with it just shows a suspect individual maturity level.

HAA is full of "Silver State" CP's and area managers .... Check Airmen with no real world experience whatsoever.

Think a Bambi bucket is something to rescue a small deer from the forest fires with.

Not enough "real world" flight time to qualify for a step increase when hiring into the Gulf.

"1000 or 1500 hrs" of flying tours. Almost as bad as the 1000 hr CFI that did 1 hour 1000 times.

The world has been inherited by the meek; Thanks a lot Jusus!

But it's a bit of a stretch to say that is what HAA is all about, a long stretch.

Has to do with recognizing potential problems that might be fixed before the next flight.  Call it an early preflight or pretakeoff walk around if you choose.

Not *every* helicopter in this industry is operated under Part 135 or even a commercial Part 91 op such as tours where there are full-time mechanics.  A lot of helicopters are owned by rich guys and don't have full-time mechanics on staff.  Or they're operated out in the field, away from a mechanic.  Most modern hellicopters can go quite happily from 100-hour to 100-hour, or even (gasp!) Annual to Annual without requiring any serious maintenance.  In such cases, it's incumbent on the *pilot* do do a proper post-flight - just in case any servicing is required or something is discovered requiring a mechanic need to be called in.
