Msg ID: 2693718 SPIFR Pay +0/-1

I am wondering what HAA companies are paying for SPIFR. I am seeing there are numerous postings at Metro for IFR. What does metro pay for pilots to fly SPIFR?  Is it a stipend or an IFR payscale? How does it compare to the rest of the companies flying Helicopter SPIFR. Thanks in advance

They pretty much pay what you negotiate from their starting point. PHI pays and extra $8,500.

First six months at Metro is VFR. On 7th month you will do your IFR ride and can expect a $5,000 bump in pay if you pass.

So if you think you are worth $95,000 a year and negotiate that amount at the interview, they will start you at $90,000 and bump to $95,000 after 6 months.

Good company, good training but hard to get money out of for additional duties such as OT etc, Be sure what your contract says before you sign on the line. If you don't need bennies at Metro you can get another $5K, but bennies there are very good.

take it or leave it, they know they are getting those who have been culled from other operations, and treat them accordingly.

No vacation first year ... 5 days a year after that until 4 years in.  Health benefit is ok ... vacation benefitis well below average.  OT policies are also well below average. 5k is the IFR pay, so that is also below par.

Metro benefits are great.   Full Medical/Dental/Vision paid with no deduction from your paycheck.  Covers entire family. For those with Tricare or have own medical ins. they up your salary by 5k.  401k match 75% up to 7%. Dont know what the other posters got going on, but I get more OT than I can handle at my base.  Had over 20k in OT last year.  4% raise every year for the past 18 years

Yes, that's a step up from flight school pattern training or tour pilot merry-go-round. Like expecting a pony ride to be equal to a rodeo.

73k is an entry level salary for no experience newbies jobs. Those who accept that are just filling in a slack time, or unable to get hired elsewhere.

Yes, I've worked for 73k, but that was ten years ago. Heck, I've worked for 40k, but that was before you were born.

Starting salary is ~$95k from day one. No increase after you pass your 135.297 check ride. They hire you as an IFR pilot, and pay IFR wages when you are flying VFR for the first 6-8 months.
