I'd say fairly good, problem is we've been there twice before. Avra Valley 1998-99. closed. Tucson Int'l airport mid 2000's, closed. A LOT of politics in Tucson. If you already live there, take the chance.
If not, don't buy a house unless you plan on living there after the base closes.

So you know your good for a couple years. Good location and yes they were there a LONG time ago. ZHIT has changed since then. Good volume down there. They will probably Knock AMC OUT!!!!! |

Unless they open the base as an HRPP, NICU, IABP base, they wont be able to compete in the tucson market for flights against AMC, and from what we are hearing PHI is not going to open this base with these capabalities |

If you don't know by now you must be out of state, or an outside hire. 3 pilot openings and as of right now there are 3 Arizona pilots putting in for transfers. Not saying that means they'll all take it, but slim chances if you're an outside hire. Might be some Sierra Vista openings sooner than later though. |

What do you mean by hospital program? Having an aircraft on a pad or actually supported by the hospital? I think AMC is going to put up a big fight to keep PHI out of Tucson, I would be surpsied if a base actually opens and stays open for longer than 90 days. |

Type rating as per FAA are for aircraft 12,500# or more, and or turbine. EASA and other certifying authorities require type ratings for individual aircraft regardless of weight or powerplant. |

Not to mention housing in Arizona has skyrocketed. Arizona as an average has increased by 21% over the last year with the influx of people California and other blue states seeking tax relief, cheaper housing. If you're renting, people are getting into bidding wars over that too. The avg 3 bedroom house in a crime infested neighborhood with run you 2500 or more a month. Arizona is also in the worst drought in the history of the state yet is growing almost exponentially. From the fire side, they are having trouble dipping the lakes because they are almost empty. Are you sure you want to move here ? |
