perfect storm
- airlines hiring again
- zero pilot coming in from tour with turbine time
- less " VA" trained pilot coming in since the famous "LA time article "
- COVID washed out few unmotivated/strugging pilots
according to hiring trends, AirMethods needs to hire 260 pilots this year. but can't find the right applicants so offers keep on pilling |

what air methods and the rest of the haa gang need to do is cut the fleet by about 50%, not hire more pilots to fly the ships they got that are getting hung with cobwebs for lack of business, or flying hangnails to try and stay in biz.
too many ships out there, folks, and not enough real work. this is the reality. but hey, capitalism don't work with right-sizing, it's grow, grow, grow, grow, grow until the collapse comes.
have a nice day. |

Boom bust is just a normal growth cycle of any organism. It is not a creation of capitalism. |

Aaron Todd said in a 2015 earnings call: "And if you ask me personally, do we need 900 air medical helicopters to serve this country, I'd say probably not, maybe 500, 600 could do well, but it’s an open market, these are – we don’t have certificate of need restrictions".
Who knows better than A. Todd? |

so it's capitalism that's the problem, huh? not third-party payers and warped markets that enable medically unnecessary flights and HEMS overcapacity?
meddling with the market is the problem. otherwise, capacity would sort itself out naturally.
