They were part of an upgrade to the T-34. The PT-6 made it the T-34C Turbo Mentor. At idle it would accelerate to 40 knots if you didn't use beta. |

There was an unusual arrangement of engines on a P-2 Neptune as well. 2 radial inboard engines, and 2 outboard turbojet engines. The turbojets had no conventional throttles, like the radials did. They were only used for takeoff. After starting, they would would run at minimum idle thrust. The only other setting was takeoff power. |

An operator out of ANC had a Volpar conversiou. It used those screaming Garretts, which I always hated. Good plane, otherwise. The P & W conversion would have been better, my favorite turbine for a turboprop by far. |

Almost every issue I had with the PT6 was induced by bad maintenance practices. Dirty compresso, improper rigging, miss-matched bleed valve offices. if you had those areas covered, that motor would always get you there and back And make TBO as well. |

Good for you Mech. Tech expertise and experience like yours is so valuable, but isn't being properly compensated by my estimation.
You and the PT6 might have a lot in common. |

Always rather had a good mechanic than a good SIC :) |
