Yes. I have my personal survival pack, gun, knife, small fish kit, rope, signal mirror, matches, personal GPS locator, heavy gloves, cap, extra socks, power bars. I keep a few other things like basic helmet parts for on the job site fixes. All of this is in I small back pack on the passenger seat. About 7 lbs.
Additionally all company helicopters have survival kit that is mandated for forest service work but we carry always.
Seems silly to some but on a cross county of even 50 miles a forced landing late in the day means at least most of a night or more outside maybe hurt. A trip from say Bullhead, AZ to McCall, ID it could be a week almost anywhere on that route. |

Had a process in the manual for requesting to carry a firearm
I followed it and made a request...they removed it from manual at next revision |
