a few years back.

If you have 5 years left in you, enjoy some big iron and real respect. Even if you have to do regionals for a year or two. To have flown the airlines is a great achievement looking back from retirement. To have flown both helicopters and airliners is an accomplished career.

I have lifelong buddies in the helicopter industry and saw them hesitating. Saw it back then anyway. Now i'm a bit out of the loop. Some were old like me, over 50. Some were younger. I like our pilot corps and it would be nice to have made a difference in someone's life. Maybe it'll just get made fun of because thats how we behave and thats ok.

Airline pilots have schedules. Early mornings; late nights. No napping half the day and flying 15 hours a month. Crappy crews, 100 passengers that aren’t sedated and 100 nights on the road.

Go get that boys.

I've been considering the same.  How did you build your fixed wing time to qualify as a 135 line pilot?

I did some instructing on the side early on and ag spraying later. The ag spraying was a little taxing due to the early mornings but it was fun. I also got to fly first officer on some side gigs in jets. I didn't need all that much PIC due to the helicopter time. I just needed some multi engine time and that came witht the regionals.

We have a 135 fixed-wing operator that will hire low time pilots in a SIC capacity to build time, and I was curious what options are out there to get to the ATP minimums.
