Call them and ask. It's extremely rare for there to be off-shift housing options at Metro bases, but I do know of some. |

As stated in the post above. There are a couple bases in the Metro system that has off-duty housing. Not very many and I don't know of any in Indiana, but it would be worth an ask. |

You are spending precious money to move around like a migrant worker. Find a really nice place to live, and figure out how to work there. If it's in WalMart, then so be it; move upp in the ranks, and create a stable, safe, and enjoyable environment for your family. If not, buy a van and live in that until you find your dream home. |

i agree with you 100%. I am in my dream home and not willing to move but there is not anything close. Would consider a gypsy job if they provided hotels as you did the Gypsy thing on your hitch. I wouldn't think about moving to to be a conveniently located Gypsy. I saw that Metro just posed a Gypsy job and was wondering how it works. |

The Regional float guy in our region gets hotels, per diem, and rental cars whenever he's sent somewhere. |

This is the air transportation industry. You should never expect a job to be permanent for any amount of time in any one place, regardless how the job is sold to you. An employer likely won't even tell you the base is closing or you are being transferred until the last minute, regardless if you sold all your possessions and home to relocate. But hey, they got their's! Business is business, and business is cut-throat. |
