Does AMC's Local 109 have its own website or forum?  Do all helicopter unions have a central website were they all meet?

What is AMC's union website, and can anyone log in or do you have to be part of the union?  I am asking because there is a opening near by and want to ask some question before my interview.

What is the starting salary, and can they match my current salary?  Is there a limit? Does a pilot with 2500hrs get brought in the same as a pilot with many more?

Thanks, New to EMS

The union will not determine any of those things. The company has the authority to statt a pilot at a range of around $69k - $73k. It is supposed to be based on “experience” but it seems more like it is based on how bad they need a pilot to fill that position, with pilots covering the most hard to fill bases getting the higher end of that range.

So the Union and AMC has come to an agreement to to pay hire salaries to people going to hard to fill bases but can't change the salaries of current employees, only new hires.

That begs the question, should I quit and get rehired at a higher pay?

Still does not answer the question that new hire pay for less qualified pilots, can be higher than current employees.

Unless 73K is the max they can go and the extra pay you talk about is a stipends, or hard to fill pay, that can be taken away.

These are the numbers of signatures from people trying to organize with OPEIU.....If its that badm why are they ALL organizing?

PHI non-union members healthcare cost went up 44% on Ocober 1st...maybe thats a reason

AEL lost all of the geo-mods and never got that so called HUGE pay raise. They have no base protections and so much more.

MTC see above with AEL. Plus they only get 2% raises and have no grievance protections for dicipiline or when a medcrew targets a pilot.

Metro. No more 4% annual raise and the highest of the healthcare cost now.

LFN. Benefits. Base protections. Manadated overtime.

Only a sample of the reasons they have expressed WHY ALL of these company pilots are not "trying" but are actually in the process of organiziing.

First, likely the number of signatures are not really all actual current employees.   Second, signatures expire after a period of time.  Thirdly, any employer in his right mind wouldn't accept those signatures without a certifcation of the NMB as determined by a representational election; at which time, anyone can be nominated as representative.

Local 108 has been in trusteeship more months than it has not, just comeing out of trusteeship yet for a third time.   It can't get members voluntarily, so it relies on CareFlight forced members/agency fees to help fund it.   Heck nobody from CareFliight is even on the Board of Directors, so that tells you just how corrupt that organization really is.

Local 102 same problem.   Members are not there.   But, they are not a RLA local, so they can't force anyone to pay agency fees (ATTENTION, if they are taking agency fees from you as part of your contract, it is a violation of state's Right-To-Work laws!  You can pay them voluntarily if you want to, they can't force you to however!)

Local 107.   well....

Go back to school and get an education in political science. Work for a Senator or Congressman and then run for office. You'll get a good salary, benefits, and take part in insider trading so you can make a heck of a lot of money by the time you're 40. Then it's clear sailing partner! Get out of office when you're around 80 and then have Health Benefits for life!

They have a hiring matrix that they'll plug your numbers into and decide what step they want to start you out at. If you've got time in the aircraft, mountain time if flying in a mountainous area, previous EMS experience, NVG time, etc... you've got a decent shot at not starting at the absolute bottom of the totem pole. You can try to argue for a higher step and they can either give it to you, or not.

Bottom line if you pass the interview (Lordy, if you don't you really have some soul searching to do) you'll get an offer you can accept or not. That's that. The union takes at least 1%, no getting out of it.

This “hiring matrix” simply isn’t the truth. We see it time and time again. Less experienced pilots get hired on at higher salaries than more experienced pilots all the time. The company uses this range as a tool to entice pilots to positions that they struggle to fill. This is separate from a HTF stipend. That stipend must apply to all Pilots at the base.

The Union and AMC do this all the time. Dirtbag pilot, kicked from one program, moved to another, no opening gets IFR transition. Good pilot at base left out to dry. 2500hr civilian pilot hired at 74k, military pilot with 4500hrs hired at 68k. It's a joke, that's why you can use 30 bases and still have 100 openings. Says something big

Do yourself a favor and ignore almost all what you hear.

Pay the dues and move on.

You will not be able t o negotiate anything near to what union power has with respect to compensation.

However, don't delude yourself in to thinking the  union is  the company, it isn't, and it has no power over the company other than assuring pilots are dealt with fairly and uniformly (sort of).

There really is NOT anything more to think about with respect to unions.

They are what they are - a mess, but worthwhile.  Don't think so?  Do your homework.  You'll figure it out.

Right after they make the company less profitable and capable of competing in the market place just like AMC, where bad, lazy, no good pilots hang out.  Then your right, the union pays better in the short run, but in the long run we all pay the price of of company losing contracts and finally going out of business.  Unless your an auto maker, then you get bailed out or like oil, solar, etc.

Facts don't care about your feeling, grow up put your big boy pants on, argue for your own money and compensation, and if that does not work out go to a company that does.

Only a Beta Male would want to force a company to do something for them because they are a special kind of snow flake.

Everyone jokes about socialism and commies, but what is a union expect a socialist style of governance. The lowest common denominator dictates what the best employee get paid.  Just like socialism, until all productivity grinds to a holt. Nothing say freedom like the union holding a "gun" to the head of the good employee to rob his pay to pay for the employee that barley does his job.  And you wonder why AMC is a bad company, the company? the employee? Or is it the UNION.
