If HAA is emptying out to the airlines, then Tours should be emptying out to HAA. ,...but we're not seeing a buttload of tour posts, so,...?

At least they choose to go flying, unlike lazy med-crews who just want to sleep their day/night away, always looking for a way to get over on a pilot.

I do it for the money, not for job satisfaction, nor helping the public. I do not think myself a "first responder" or anything other than an equipment operator with required skills. The med-crews however think they are God's gift to medicine; smarter that any of the doctors or Nurses they meet. Think they are some sort of "Special Ops" street war heroes, replete with their combat action vests.

why is it that med crews can openly state that they hate pilots, yet as pilots we are required to bow in their presence and take every action to not offend their political views, religious views, or their sexual preferences; never mind their proclivity to self-medicate!

Probably because of the crappy locations and all the silly azz stuff you're required to do before you can turn a blade.

And because they don’t provide off-duty housing, in this pilot shortage climate, c’mon!!!

in the Army, and hated them in HAA but in both it was really important you wear one.  Banging ones head against any part of the aircraft because you're distracted or in a hurry, or both, is NOT pleasant and it an actually delay or stop a flight.

The typical company will:

1. decrease pilot experience requirements

2. experience a decrease in flight volume

3. experience an increase in crashes

The smart company will:

1. maintain pilot requirements

2. increase pay

3. attract the kind of pilot they really want

4. retain the experienced pilots they have

5. experience increased flight volume

6. experience increased market share

Unfortunately, most managers are unfit for a leadership position; they fail to realize the long term benefits of good morale and a full roster of experienced pilots. Often times their ego and arrogance deludes good decision making. The type of managers that think suggestions should go straight into the waste bin.

Greed is also a factor to some of these bad managers; to them, every dollar spent on a pilot (or any other employee) is potentially a dollar out of their own pocket. They care more about themselves rather than making the company the best it can be.

And before some smart-@ss manager makes a quip about how pilots always complain and don‘t understand the business dynamics... you are full of crap. There are a few companies in the helicopter industry that actually pay their employees very well and treat them like family. Companies that are proactive, rather than reactive and consult their employees on how to make the business better. Having worked for one of those companies, I promise you the employees there don’t complain. They end up being fiercely loyal to the company and those in charge. But if your employees are complaining, I suggest you look in a mirror and ask yourself why you are failing so miserably.
