Costco.  Managers at Costco and Walmart are making more money.  Even assistant managers are making more.  Ridiculous.

You act like you can just walk in and become the store manager. It takes years sometimes decades to reach that level. Heaven forbid you get on the wrong person's bad side. If you don't like being a pilot then take the plunge. Nothing wrong with that.

You couldn't me pay enough to put up with whiny EMS pilots and self centered nurses!

I chose flying so I wouldn't have to get a real job.  I learned that after college, yes, four years of it.

To me life isn't about working, it's about enjoying it and helping others along the way, which adds to the satisfaction.

Money can help when it is needed but if you are really turned on by flying, whatever type, then do it.  I did for 5.5 decades and loved it, definitely do not regret it.

Rightfully complaining about one's compensation isn't a bad thing, unless one does nothing about it, thus being a complainer is fact.

Remember, big money = big bills, little money = big bills.  We all tend to spend money rather than save it for a rainy day or retirement.  Big big mistake, especially when the only place we tend to save is in the stock market, an even bigger mistake.

Balance, that's the way to do it.

What does one have to do with the other?  In a free market, supply and demand dictate the value of any position.  If it costs Walmart 100K to attract and keep store managers, and it costs HAA operators 50k to attract and keep pilots, then if you want to make 100k go work for Walmart.

plus I did about 18K in OT so far this year. The good news is I don't have to go to a Walmart every day. The bad news is the window lickers in the back. Hmmm...Walmart might be a good career move?

Depends on what amount of money you need.  Remember, kids come first, the person of the house second, and the breadwinner last, but the two former have to support the latter so things keep moving forward.

Considering what college graduates are starting at these days with simply a Bachelors degree starting helicopter pilots at 40 or 50k is getting a tad absurd.

Lowest I made since 1985 was 50k, highest 200+k, average 125k.  You won't get that relative average without seeking it out.
