You can debate the legality of it if it turns you on (I did it for years, BTW), but doesn't matter now. ALL GONE along with any other work related expense deductions. |

Wall = no people that crossover ILLEGALLY for our tax dollars & resources to pay & care for. So where are they now. Hmmm lets see. MEXICO. They are now paying. Get it now. Pretty simple to me. |

1. Illigal border crossing are decreasing since years, down by about 70%. That has nothing to do wih the wall.
2. illegal immigrants overall pay more tax and social security then they receive.
3. We can spent money on a useless wall, or on something else, or we can give it back to the taxpayers.

Airfare, mileage, tolls, parking, etc. plus the per diem. I did it for 7 years. I know pilots that have been doing it for decades. |

Um, if your place of business was a base in smsll gulf town, and you lived in a city far away, and you were claiming airfare to get to and from your place of work, then its not clear how you did so legally anyway. Ever! Business expenses begin only AFTER you get to work, not while you are getting to work.

Medical expenses, including insurance premiums paid. Travel expenses to and from checkups and Doctor appointments. Perscriptions, deductible costs and out of pocket costs etc. etc. Standard deduction went from $12,000 for a couple to $24,000. Rich people have loopholes. Working Middle Class have none! Tell me now. Is this new tax law help the working man and woman? |

If you deducted those expenses, you weren't paying taxes on it. That is what deduction means in tax lingo!
You were claiming it as a business expense when it wasn't (ever) a business expense. |

Haven't been able to deduct travel to your principal place of employment...For a long while.
However, you can still deduct safety equipment, professional equipment, schooling for advancement in career, organizations, etc. |

That's when they would have nabbed you. If you weren't audited, then you got away with it for those years. But, remember, taxes are audible for up to 3 years generally, but up to 6 years if they find intentional fraud |

You're a self employed business owner, not a tax preparer or an accountant? Next. You also need to research the tax proposal as you are woefully ignorant on what's been put forth. |

Previously, you had to look at the definition of a “tax home”. If you were assigned for somewhere less than a year, you can deduct travel etc under the transportation rules. If you worked at the same location for greater than a year, you are out of luck.
