The word going around the lineman world is the 'needle' he was using broke and the line and grapple hook sprung back into the main and tail rotor. A witness has said the machine fell 100 feet with most of the blades gone landing on its left nose area.

I had a fear in the years I pulled sockline that this might happen one day. I would not want to be the guy or company who built that needle. Sad.

I met Howard briefly while in the Army at Ft Eustis at the AH-1 Armament school.  Good guy and easy to like.  I asked him why he always drove off every weekend and never came to our cookouts.  He picked a direction and just drove.  He said "Dude, I live on an island that's 60 miles across."  Enough said, changed my perspective.  Always grateful to someone who opens my eyes to seeing something a different.  Thanks Howard and God Bless!
