A look through the EC135P2+ flight manual reveals no limitation on flight in snow, that's for standard and factory inlet barrier filter installations, I do not have a FMS for the after market IBF system. Just need to make sure snow is cleared from the aircraft before start. Other than that the EC135 aircraft like almost all helicopters does not allow for flight in known icing conditions, snow in its true form is not alone considered icing conditions. As previously mentioned if it is sleet or you are on the edge of freezing and the snow is right on the edge of sticking that's a different story. I'd rather it be 20F and good solid snow vs low 30s. Most of the time when the snow shows up the visibility or ceiling will end up below company or FAA minimums anyways. Now there are plenty of days when you'll see light snow showers that look similar to virga in the warmer seasons, no problem flying through those if you need to, just keep your vis/ceiling minimums in mind. |
