you should be in at least seven funds: two large cap, two mid cap, one small cap, one emerging mkt (foreign) and a REIT. each pays a nice dividend. As the market goes down, the dividend reinvested acquires more shares. a couple times a year you should rebalance and pay attention to ensure the contribution levels are consistent. Stay away from target dated funds. Those are garbage. |
