Yes. That IS me. Note I said "SIMPLY" declining or deferring a medical. If you will look further down on the post you reference, I allude to my opinion that MANY who sit on panels and boards within the medical branch have an overly conservative and risk-averse mentality and thus view flat-out denial of a medical application as the go-to position. And yes, I believe that there are also some there who do this out of laziness rather than giving every case the attention to detail it needs. And no... I'm not f"""ing kidding you that there is no quality control process or procedure that would censure a doctor or other professional in that position for simply denying a medical approval vice giving it a thorough review if such were the case. It says tons about the Medical Certification Branch that there is an entire industry out there (AMAS, WingmanMed etc.) dedicated to helping pilots and other aviation professionals navigate the ins and outs of a complicated FAA Medical Certificate. One shouldn't have to pay a consulting agency for representation to make the guys at Medical Certification do their job correctly.
