They do discourage you from calling out sick. If you go over 3 days you have to have a doctor's note to come back and are put on short term. Now I have to pay for a doctor's visit just to get a note. And if my deductible isn't met yet then I could be paying 100 plus dollars just for a note. I would say that is a pretty big deterrent from calling out sick when you probably should.
