Work action is the only way to bring the company to the table. 

Case in point, Spirit airlines. For years the pilots had a contract that was barely better than the regionals. Company refused to negotiate in good faith. Pilots started calling out sick and stopped picking up extra trips. So many flights got cancelled it made mainstream news; cost the company millions. 


What did the government do? Wrote a limp-d&ck letter to the pilot union saying that they had to go back to work because they were violating the RLA. 


In the face of losing millions, Spirit agreed to a new contract that nearly doubled pilot pay. Rather than waiting 2 years for a nearly useless mediation process with the NMB, the pilots had the balls to burn through sick days and stick it to the company.
