Texas or Florida   

But real estate prices are skyrocketing in both due to the influx of people fleeing blue states. 

No state income tax. 

Not as much utility work in Florida if that's your bag though. 

Plenty of EMS and ENG work if that's your thing. Corporate is mostly in Miami. Not as much in Orlando or Tampa  for some reason. 

While California has the rent moratorium, good luck with all the state and local taxes, gas prices, etc.  Even people who are hard core democrats are leaving CA and moving to seemingly Utah, AZ, or Texas.

Florida, no winter though if you enjoy snow or fall leave change. 

If it were me, I'd choose Florida, or Montana if I could find a sweet gig there.
