Tim passed today, at home, they discovered inoperable brain cancer about a month ago. He had seen all the experts at OHSU in Portland, he was not undergoing any treatment.  He was 78.  He quit flying in 2018.

Tim bought an Aeronca Champ in Guatemala when he was 16 and flew it back to Taft California. his home then.  Yes he was bilingual.  He enlisted in the Army and went to a program of eighteen months of apprentice training at Corpus Christi Army Depot and came out an A&P.  He went to Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Flight School.  His first tour flying in Vietnam was in 'B' and 'C' model gunships.  He was awarded a Silver Star.  He went back to Vietnam as a Crane maintenance Officer.  He retired from the Army as a Major with 20+ years.

He then worked for some time as a Lycoming Technical Representative.  He held a Bachelor's and Master's degree.  He hired on to the FAA at the Saint Louis FSDO and was the original POI for Air Evac Lifeteam.  He transferred to the Portland, Oregon PDX FSDO, and at time was the POI for JL Aviation, Columbia Helicopters, Evergreen Helicopters, Croman, Erickson, Brim and several others.  He retired at the end of 2011 from the FAA.  

He was an Airline Transport Pilot, Single and Multiengine Land, Helicopter, typed in SK-61 and 64, and a Commercial Hot Air Balloon Pilot.  He was an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
