There's a reason the VA docs evaluate us and assign a disability rating. While I don't advertise my "disabilities," they do affect me every day of my life. And they have an impact on my opportunities. (I could never be a hunting guide with these knees, for instance). Mostly it's pain and range of motion. I still choose to be involved in sports, and it always involves a level of pain. The overall benefit is worth it, especially mentally. Get busy living or get busy dying... I've played in disabled veteran hockey tournaments. Some smug people might judge us because we can still skate... if so, f$*% em. |
