Not *every* helicopter in this industry is operated under Part 135 or even a commercial Part 91 op such as tours where there are full-time mechanics.  A lot of helicopters are owned by rich guys and don't have full-time mechanics on staff.  Or they're operated out in the field, away from a mechanic.  Most modern hellicopters can go quite happily from 100-hour to 100-hour, or even (gasp!) Annual to Annual without requiring any serious maintenance.  In such cases, it's incumbent on the *pilot* do do a proper post-flight - just in case any servicing is required or something is discovered requiring a mechanic need to be called in.
