I have a fare amount of SPIFR time in EMS and good amount of it in the EC135. In the early days it was a mess with something failing on a lot of flights. As the air frame matured it was a good IFR ship, not great because it could not carry the fuel weight you would like to have. Also full four axis auto pilot was much appreciated when shooting an approach at 03:00, or flying back to back approaches in a big city. For the numbers guys EC135 was great compared to the larger ships. Numbers guys don't fly IFR at 03:00. Retired before getting into EC145 but have IFR time in; BK's, BH412, BH222, BH230, S76 |
