Many times I was asked by a Pilot, "Do you want me to write this discrepancy up?" My answer was always the same, If you write it up, one of three things is going to happen. #1 I'm going to fix the problem. #2. If I can't fix it, I'll see if it can be MEL'd so you can continue with your scheduled flight(s) and order any parts that might be needed. #3. If I can't do either one or the other, it is grounded and you will have to find another aircraft to finish your day. Mechanics should be very careful about discussing whether or not a discrepancy should be documented. It may come back to bite you. |
