I see your point but for me it’s not worth it. My company only pays an extra $5k a year which is less than $28 a shift for 180 days before taxes. A lot of the helos are old T1 135’s and not worth the pressure or risk with a heavy medcrew and the average 300lb patient. I can make up that pay difference in less than 6 days of workover. I would rather fly VFR with 1 checkride a year and not have to know twice as much knowledge, more training mins and twice as many check rides. I enjoy my 1000’ and 3 miles via mins which in reality we use 1500’ and 4 miles. I have done IFR and enjoyed it with a copilot and a much newer more powerful aircraft. To each his own and you have to decided what’s best for you. Obviously IFR is your preference and that’s cool. I prefer VFR.
