The whole "negotiate" thing for individuals is garbage. Usualy just a small amount of wiggle for when you ask for more but more often it's a "take it or leave it" situation. In most situations, the union employer will pay a higher rate and unions bring up wages at non-union companies. Non-union companies usually don't want to pay you what you're worth but they have to remain competitive. Always better off with a union. |
