I have been on the 7+7 schedule for 20 years. Sleep when you are tired was the advice I got from and old guy when I started, and it works. Some nights I can get 7 hours of sleep at work and other times I go 7 nights where we are too busy to lie down for 5 minutes. Have a dark room at home for those days when you need to sleep. It takes a little getting used to at first but once you train your body to sleep during the day it will become easier. The biggest deterent I see is screen time. No cell phone or tv in my bedroom. I have a case that blocks cell signal to my phone, and my phone goes in that case when I sleep. The alarm still works while the phone is in the case. Even one led light such as those on an alarm clock are enough to keep me awake, total darkness is the answer.

The wife can help put me to sleep as well, if you know what I mean  :-)
