The pilot made a correct decision. Now then if pressured by the meds because they got scared I can see that turning very bad for the pilot.
If the pilot decided to write an incident report to the FAA as a way of officially tracking bad weather/IIMC flights that didn't involve a crash, I applaud. If the company decided for him to write a report the FAA doesn't care about meaning; MORE 'pointless paperwork' it will turn bad. Pilots are usually lazy so if landing unplanned means more work then some may press on rather then spent an hour in front of a compute.
