Ahhh, yes, the xfer pumps are supposed to be turned off when the appropriate light comes on per the flight manual.  The accident was switch mismanagement and not understanding the fuel system.  If you walk through the facts of the flight accident, which in many cases are not known here, it can be understood what happened and why.  For those familiar with the 135, think about the pitch attitude when flying at different air speeds and hovering, and how the fuel would be positioned in the main tank at those attitudes. The final accident report has all the known facts.
