You said it there, just having an IFR ticket (this guy did not] is not enough, you have to be ready, have your head in the game, and be current IFR capable in the aircraft you are in.

I have about 15,000 hours and currently fly a fully IFR capable twin engine helo, but the job calls for only day VFR. Even thinking about going IFR in it makes me nervous. Am not staying IFR current in it, or consistently training for IFR these days.
