What am I missing here?


The company that I work for requires us to accept a flight if we plan to get to a receiving faciliry within 14 hours.  Or we can meet somewhere and swap pilots within 14 hours.  They do not allow the “part 91 ferry” without med crew after duty time.  I cannot count how many times I’ve timed out and waited for the oncoming pilot to drive and meet me.  Then drive 3+ hours back to base.  Often this ends up being an 18-21 hour shift.  Driving back on foggy mountain roads in the middle of the night tired AF.  Do you know what I would much rather do?  Fly the damn aircraft back at 15-16 hours.  So much more efficient and less dangerous.
