It is typical for people to come on here and judge without the facts. First of all, they are highly experience crews for all operations. They fly by Part 91 or 135 and do not use the Public Use exemption. They have dedicate pilots for the Agustas and rescue operations. Phx PD has one of the best safety records in the business. They also have one of the finest maintenance programs of any type of program.  They are not typical police ops since they do a variety of diverse flying.

Regarding the rescue, they had a static line attached and it broke. Hence the spinning. They do these rescues several times a month because of accidents and the occasional stupid hiker. They know what they are doing. Stuff happens. This event was unfortunate and unpredictable. I'm confident they will learn, train and adapt to prevent a reoccurence. So, lets be professional and not jump to conclusions based on a short video. All that said, it was hard not to laugh, at least a little.
