wasn't that the time of wearing running shoes with fatigues because you wouldn't get blisters? Did you have the stress card to display if you were too far away from your (not yet identified) safe place?
For the record, you didn't neccesarily serve in the true sense of the word. You merely fulfilled a contract. Probably enlisted to get the education benefit, right?
I long for the time when men were men, women were wome, LGBQT stayed in the closet or were ridiculed into the dark corners of society .... uh I mean "don't ask don't tell" was the norm. The late 70's changes were made for affirmitive action and then diversity. All that means is that standards were lowered so all could be considered for a job, regardless of their physical or mental ability. Now we have 100 lb firefighters who cannot do what the previously highly trained physically fit firemen could do. We have 300 lb firefighters and police officers who cannot do what highly trained physically fit firemenn and policemen did.
