Here's a shot at a real response to your post, OP.

From here it seems you may have stagnated a while ago at your job. You're probably good at what you do and you are bored. Men need a change when we get to this point. Helicopter pilots do this a lot, common knowledge. You might be at a place in your flying gig where you can predict just about all that will happen in each and every day, give or take a few drafts lol.

I'll tell you what though, there ARE jobs out there where there is adventure to be found. But, you have to make moves to get there. That incudes changing your lifestyle, maybe taking a paycut. Alaska, pretty much any flying up there is adventurous, especially looking back. Yes, even tours. The weather sucks so it feels like you got away with one pretty routinely. How about Rescue Work? The adventure there is real. And the decisions you make WILL affect whether people live or die. Bad weather, night time scenarios etc...It all has to be mitigated adventure, I will give you that, but it is adventure. How about Flying Fires? Things are on fire so that is kind of an adventure....lean into the billowing smoke on your next run for fun.

It's not that the industry is foo foo these days, it's that you may be a bit bored in what you are doing. You know like I know, if you spend more than a few years doing this, you'll know dead pilots too. It is not a badge to know them either. I know folks flying for the airlines. None of them have dead peers but from heart attacks.
