No need for the hostility.  Your answer is actually interesting to me.  My guess was that most people now prefer safety as their highest need, it is fine if that is the case, just not for me.  I'm curious of your age?  I'm in my 50s and have been flying professionally for about 30yrs.

I agree that professionally safety is number one, that is what is asked of us and what is delivered.  However, for some taking risk is worth it.  I'm not talking about doing stupid things, I'm talking about trying new things.  Now need for me to tell you about the pioneers, there already plenty of books written about the early days of aviation.

I do work powerlines, thanks.  You might not know this, but there is a raging battle going on about HEC and other work methods right now.  The regulators have basically stepped in and decided there can no longer be any new kinds of work methods unless every piece of new equipment is already STC'd.  Basically a whole lot of CYA in the industry and no longer allowing people to make their own decisions of what is worth trying or not.  Not a big deal, just a change of mindset of which you'd obliviously support.
