If you don't like HEMS or it pis-es you off... then... maybe... don't fly for a HEMS program. That's what I'd do (or I guess not do) if it ever pis-ed me off so much that i got tired of seeing my wife and kids every day, living less than a half hour from work, and making decent (though admittedly not exceptional) pay. Things that "kinda pis-es me off" but i can easily live with are... 1.) bitchy people. Most of our pilots and crew are really good folks who do a great job and are fun to work with. But there's always that 10% who make the rest of us look bad. You who have flown HEMS know... most bases have that one or two that make life difficult. And 2.) Pay. I could always use more cash.
Flying HEMS or HAA or whatever is only hard if you make it hard. Make good decisions, don't push cruddy weather, give a little grace to those that are stupid, amd chill while you wait for a flight request.
