The industry is expected to close approximatley 10% of bases within the next 18-24 months. For AMC, that is roughly 30 bases. The AVERAGE base has three pilots assigned. AMC has 102 positions for line pilots when you read through the mulitple postings for each base and relief pilots.
3 pilots per base multiplied by 30 bases equals 90 positons.
That leaves only 12 that go unfilled at the current rate.
Either pick a new position, or move on. AMC is NOT having a problem with hiring and there has been several pilots who left for "greater" airline life and returned.
Considering this is industry wide; thag FACT is that these organizartions will take advantage of the desaturatioin and over utilization of the industry and it WILL balance the employee-profit spreadsheets on its own.
They are not worried, because they dont have to be.
