The counterpoint to your poorly written post is that I went to HAI and attended the military to civilian transition seminar. There, I met a few people that helped get me in touch with someone that directly helped me get my foot in place for my current job. This is my 1st job after my military service, I make more than most of my airline pilot friends (SW, FEDEX), I live where I want, and am home 99% of every evening. I enjoy my job, and have a far better quality of life than I did in the military.
There ARE some benefits of attending and meeting people that may want to help you. I spoke at an HAI event, and have helped a few people with info and assistance about my industry.
