Wow, you bring up facts the in no way the security/police officers had any idea about when this incident went into play (the age of the passenger) (his prior experiences and capabilities I.E. doctor or whatever) (his physical stamina - he did run back to his seat after everything) (is the person under the influence of drugs) a peace officer going into a physical altercation at half speed in an arrest/takedown leaves himself open to injury and or death to not only himself, but innocent people around the location.  It’s very close to others if you don’t know inside a airliner.  Worked well for Rodney King, well he was beaten after he was on the ground, no such thing happened to this passenger.  His injuries were the direct result of the initial takedown AFTER he refused to comply with the offiers directions repeatly!  Like I said arguing your point with officers there on the plane is NOT the time or place.  You have the luxury of a Monday morning quarterback to second guess even criticize this incident from a partial video and commentary from a newspaper/ TV reporter.  Just saying the truth always lies somewhere in the middle!
